About Snowkit

Snowkit is an independent studio in Canada making free tools for everyday digital work: documents, photos, video, writing, code, numbers, QR codes and launching on the web.

Kitsune, the Snowkit fox, sitting in a cardboard box

Why it is called Snowkit

A baby fox is called a kit, and a toolkit is where you keep the right tool for each job. Snowkit is both: a box of tools for everyday work, looked after by Kitsune, the snow fox who hands you the right one. Snow is for the calm, clean way the tools work, quietly and privately, on your own device.

  • Tools do one job each.
  • Apps put a kit of tools to work together on the same files.
  • Tricks repeat the steps for you, on many files at once.
  • Kits are ready-made packs of files for builders.

Why it exists

Converting a file or making a QR code shouldn’t mean uploading private documents to a stranger’s server, sitting through ads, or finding out at the end that the result is watermarked. Snowkit does those jobs properly, inside your own browser, and then gets out of the way.

How it’s organised

Tools do one job each, and live in eight products: Snowkit PDF, Studio, Write, Dev, AI, Calc, QR and Launch. Apps bring a product’s tools together in one workspace, tricks repeat a set of steps for you, and kits are ready-made packs of files for builders. Your Snowkit keeps the work you choose to save, on your own device.
