Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

Getting started
Is Snowkit free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no account, no trial and no watermark.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Open a tool and start. Accounts are optional: sign in with a passkey, GitHub or Google to keep your favourite tools, your Library, Your Snowkit and your tricks on every device.
Does Snowkit show ads?
No, and it never will. There are no ad networks and no trackers on the site.
Which browsers are supported?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile. Very large files work best on a desktop browser.
Is there an app?
Snowkit works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, so there is nothing to install. Each product also has a full app that runs in the browser, such as Snowkit PDF and Snowkit Write. See them all on the Apps page.
What are Tricks?
Tricks are steps Snowkit repeats for you. A trick is a list of steps, such as resize, compress and rename, that runs on every file you add. Teach Snowkit a trick on the Tricks page, run it on a whole folder at once, and share it with a link that holds only the steps. Tricks used to be called Flows; saved flows carry over.
Files and privacy
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The tools run inside your browser, so your files are read and processed on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers. If you sign in and turn on private sync, files you keep in your Library are locked on your device before they are saved, so only your devices can open them. A few tools exist to check a website, such as the expiry checker, DNS lookup and header checker. They look up the public address you type, never your files, and each one says so on its page.
Where do my converted files go?
Straight to your device, through your browser's normal download. If a tool makes several files, it offers a single ZIP. A copy is also kept in your Library on this device, so you can find it again later. To stop that, untick Keep my downloads in my Library under Storage and backup on the Library page.
What can I do with a file I just made?
After a download, a small bar offers the next steps. Send it straight to another tool, add it to a project, copy it to paste into another app (pictures and text), or print it (pictures and PDFs).
Can I use Snowkit at work?
Yes. Because files never leave the device, Snowkit suits work with confidential documents. Our security page explains how it works for IT teams.
Your Snowkit and Library
What is the Library?
Your Library holds everything you make with Snowkit, on this device only. Search it, open an item to download it again, send it to another tool or add it to a project. When you change a document, earlier versions are kept: the last ten, one an hour for a day, one a day for a month, and the original. Deleted items wait in the bin for 30 days before they are removed for good.
What are projects?
Projects group the files for one job, such as a house move or a client. Press Add to project after making a file and type a name to start one. Pick a current project from the Your Snowkit menu in the header, and new work goes into it on its own. A project can also use its own kit, so tools fill in that client's logo and details instead of yours.
How do I keep a backup or move to another browser?
On the Library page, under Storage and backup, Download everything saves one file that Import a backup can open on another browser or device. Your kit has its own Export backup on its tab. If you sign in and turn on private sync, your Library, kit and tricks follow you on their own, locked on your device before they leave it.
Why did my Library disappear?
The Library lives in this browser's own storage. Clearing this site's data, using a private window, or the browser freeing up space can remove it. On the Library page, Ask this browser to keep my Library makes that less likely, and a backup now and then keeps your work safe.
What is Your Snowkit?
Your Snowkit keeps your logo, colours, signature and business details on this device, so tools such as the invoice maker and QR designer can fill them in for you. Set it up once on the Your Snowkit page. It stays on this device unless you turn on private sync, which locks it before it leaves.
Accounts and sync
Can I sign in more than one way?
Yes. On your account page, under How you sign in, you can connect GitHub or Google to the account you already have, and add passkeys in the Passkeys section. Any of them then opens the same account. You can remove one at any time, as long as another way in is left.
Can I change my name or add a picture?
Yes. On your account page you can edit your display name and add any picture, cropped to a circle, or keep your initial. Your name and picture are account details stored with your account so they show on every device. They are not part of your encrypted sync, and you can remove the picture at any time.
What happens when my sync space is full?
Sync pauses for new files, and nothing is deleted. New files stay on the device where you saved them, and everything already synced keeps working.
What does private sync do?
It keeps your Library, Your Snowkit, your tricks and your favourite tools the same on every device where you sign in. Everything is locked in your browser before it is saved, so only your devices can open it. Sync stays off until you turn it on from your account page, and turning it off deletes the synced copy from our servers.
What if I lose my passkey?
A new device unlocks your sync with one of your passkeys or with the recovery key you see once when you turn sync on, so keep that key somewhere safe. If every passkey and the recovery key are lost, nobody can open the synced data, including us. Everything already saved on your devices keeps working.
How do I delete my account?
Sign in and open your account page. You can sign out there, or delete your account and everything stored with it, including your picture, at any time.
Kitsune
Who is Kitsune?
Kitsune is the Snowkit fox in the corner of every page. Tell it what you are working on in a few words, such as merge PDFs or make a photo smaller, and it points you to the right tool. Pick a goal and it lays out a plan of steps, saved on this device, and ticks them off as you go.
Does Kitsune keep what I type?
Your chat with Kitsune stays in this browser tab and is gone when you close it. Start over clears it at any time, and so does Clear my history on the privacy page. Questions Kitsune can't answer are counted as daily totals, with no cookie or identifier and after your device cleans the text, so we know what to teach it next.
Troubleshooting
Something isn't working. What should I do?
Tell us on the feedback page, or email [email protected]. Mentioning your browser and device helps us fix it faster.
A tool is slow or stops with a very large file.
There are no daily limits. The only limit is your device's memory, so very large files work best on a desktop browser, and closing other tabs frees up memory too.
Does Snowkit work without a connection?
Once a tool page has fully loaded, most tools keep working if your connection drops, because the work happens on your device. Opening a new page needs a connection, and so do the few tools that look things up on the internet.
How can I tell if something is down?
The status page checks every tool and page from your own browser right now. If anything shows as not responding, please tell us on the feedback page.
Contact
Can I suggest a tool?
Please do. Most new tools start as a request. Use the request form. No account is needed, and we read every request.
How do I report a security problem?
Email [email protected] with the details and steps to reproduce. The security page explains how Snowkit is built.
I write about Snowkit. Who do I contact?
Email [email protected]. The press page has the logo files, colours and how to write the name.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] and we will help.
