How do I convert HEIC to JPG without uploading?
Use a converter that runs on your own device: your computer’s built-in tools, or a browser tool that converts the photos locally. You can also set your iPhone to take JPG photos from now on.
Three ways that keep photos on your device
- In the browser. Snowkit’s HEIC to JPG converter converts many photos at once on your device, with nothing uploaded.
- On a Mac. Open the photo in Preview, choose File, then Export, and pick JPEG.
- On Windows. The Photos app can open HEIC files once the HEIF and HEVC extensions from the Microsoft Store are installed, then you can save a copy as JPG.
Stop getting HEIC files
On an iPhone, go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are saved as JPG. HEIC files are smaller at the same quality, so you may prefer to keep them and convert only when you need to.
Why not just upload them?
Photos often carry the place and time they were taken in their metadata, and they show people and homes. Converting on your device keeps all of that with you.
