Snowkit for university
Study, write and revise in one place, for free. Your work stays on your device, AI help is your choice, and a private writing record shows that your work is yours.
Everything for your courses, in one place
Readings, lectures, notes, essays and revision, without a stack of sign-ups or a subscription. Every tool is free, runs in your browser and keeps your work on your own device.
- Study turns your slides, readings and notes into answers with sources, a study guide, flashcards and a quiz.
- Write is a calm place for essays, with a word count, readability, versions and a private writing record.
- Lecture Recorder records a class on your device, and lecture notes turns a transcript into tidy notes.
- Annotate PDFs, summarize a PDF and keep everything in your Library.
- Citations in APA, MLA and Chicago, plus an essay outline maker.
- Math Notebook for working through problems, and a focus timer for study sessions.
- Resume Builder for when the degree is done.
Prove your work is yours
AI detectors guess, and they get it wrong, often for students who write clearly or in a second language. The fairest answer to “did you write this?” is the writing itself, and how it grew.
While you write in Write, it keeps a writing record for each document: when you worked on it, for how long, how much you typed and how much you pasted, any AI help you used, and how the word count grew across your saved versions.
- Kept privately on your device. Nobody sees it unless you share it.
- You choose what goes in a report, and can leave out the text of what you pasted.
- Each report ends with an AI-use statement you can edit to match your course’s rules.
- The report is a single file you can attach to a submission or show your professor.
A record is evidence, not a verdict. It works best as part of a conversation about your work.
AI on your terms
Snowkit’s AI help, such as rewording, summaries and answers from your sources, runs on your own device. Your writing is never sent to an AI service.
When a course says no AI, turn it off. In your settings, or in Write, set AI help to Off and it is hidden in every app. For a single assignment, turn on Keep AI off for this document in Write, and the writing record notes when you did.
Study still works without AI. It finds and quotes the right passages from your sources instead of writing an answer.
Teach the process, not the detector
Instead of running finished essays through a detector, ask to see how they were written. Students can share a writing record from Write: sessions, typing and pasting, AI use and an AI-use statement, in one file that opens in any browser.
For your own teaching
- Quiz Maker and flashcards from your own material.
- Annotate PDFs for feedback, and stamp or merge and split course packs.
- A classroom timer for the front of the room.
- Readability to check that instructions read clearly.
Easy to recommend
There is nothing to install and no student accounts to create. Files are processed in each student’s own browser and are not uploaded to Snowkit, and there are no ads or trackers.
Questions
Is the writing record an AI detector?
No. It does not guess whether text was written by AI. It records what happened while you wrote in Write, and you decide whether to share it.
Can a writing record be faked?
Someone determined could retype text by hand, so a record is not proof on its own. It is a clear account of how a piece was written, which is why it works best alongside a conversation about the work.
Does it cost anything?
No. The tools are free to use, with no account needed.
