Snowkit Study is a notebook for your own course material. Add lecture slides, readings and notes, ask questions about them, and turn them into study guides, flashcards, quizzes and a revision plan. Everything is read and saved in this browser. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
How to study with your own sources
- Add your slides, readings or notes on the left with Add files, Paste text or From your Library. Tick the sources you want to use.
- Ask a question in your own words. Each answer has numbered citations. Click a number to open the source at that page, with the passage highlighted.
- Use the Studio on the right to make a study guide, a briefing, an FAQ, a timeline, key terms, flashcards, a practice quiz, a mind map or an exam plan.
- Pin useful answers to your Notes and export them, or send them to Snowkit Write.
What you can add
PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint slides, plain text, Markdown, web pages saved as HTML and CSV files. Scanned PDFs without a text layer need to go through the searchable PDF tool first. Course files you saved through Student home can come straight from your Library. Each notebook keeps its own sources, so you can have one per course.
How answers work
Study finds the passages in your sources that best match your question. If your browser has a built-in language model, it writes a short answer using only those passages and marks each fact with a number you can click to see the source. If not, and your computer can run it, the Snowkit writing helper does the same: a small writing model that downloads once after you agree, is saved in your browser and runs on this device. An answer that does not point to a passage is never shown. Otherwise Study shows the most relevant sentences from your sources, with the same citations. Always check important answers against the source.
Flashcards that come back at the right time
Flashcards are made from the terms and key sentences in your sources. In Review, rate each card Again, Hard, Good or Easy. Cards you find hard come back sooner, and cards you know well wait longer, so a few minutes a day goes a long way. Your progress is saved in this browser, and the Studio shows how many cards are due today. You can download the cards as a CSV file that most flashcard apps can import.
With the writing helper, Flashcards also offers Make cards, which turns key sentences into question and answer cards, and Study guide offers Key points with sources. Every card and point shows the sentence it came from.
Practice quizzes and an exam plan
The practice quiz gives you a score, explains every answer with the sentence from your sources and links back to the page. Retry the ones you missed until they stick. For a test date, the exam plan spreads the topics in your sources over the days you have left, brings each one back for review, and ends with a practice quiz. Tick tasks off as you go.
Questions
Are my notes uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are read in this browser and your notebooks, notes and flashcard progress are saved on this device.
Which browsers write answers?
Desktop browsers that come with a built-in language model on the device. Where that is missing, many recent desktop browsers can run the Snowkit writing helper instead. Every other browser still finds and cites the right passages.
Can it read my study guide aloud?
Yes, in browsers with built-in speech voices. Open Listen in the Studio, pick a voice and speed, and press Play. You can pause at any time.
Can I keep what I make?
Yes. Export a study guide, notes, FAQ, timeline or plan as Markdown, a mind map as an image, and flashcards as CSV. Send notes and guides to Snowkit Write, or cards to the flashcards and quiz maker tools.
