Your best feedback, one click away

Save the comments you write again and again, sorted into categories. Fill in the student’s name and copy them into any marking tool, PDF or report.

Comments

Import a copy saved here, or a CSV with Category and Comment columns.

Your comments are saved in this browser. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. Keep the feedback you write again and again in one searchable place, personalise it with a student's name and copy it into your marking. It is free and private.

How to build and use a comment bank

    1. Press Add starter comments for a head start, or write your own under Comment.
    2. Choose a Category and press Save comment.
    3. Type the Student name so every comment shows the name filled in.
    4. Use Search or sort by category, most used or newest to find the right comment.
    5. Copy a single comment, or Add several to the Feedback you are building box and use Copy all.

    Writing reusable comments

Write each comment once, in your own voice, and put {name} where the student’s name should go. Type the name in the Student name box and every comment shows it filled in. Group comments into categories such as Praise, Next steps, Structure or Referencing, and use search to find the right one quickly.

    Using them while marking

Copy puts a single comment on your clipboard, ready to paste into a PDF annotation, a learning platform or a report. Add collects several comments in the feedback box, so you can build full feedback for one student and copy it in one go. The comments you use most rise to the top when you sort by most used.

    Keeping and sharing your bank

Save a copy downloads your whole bank as a small file, which you can import on another device or share with colleagues. CSV opens in a spreadsheet. Imported comments are added to your bank, and exact duplicates are skipped.

    Tips for better feedback

    • Name something specific that the student did well before suggesting a change.
    • Keep each comment short and about one point, so you can combine them.
    • Make next steps concrete: say what to try, not just what is wrong.
    • Add a personal sentence by hand to each piece of feedback so it never reads like a template.
    • Save a copy of your bank regularly as a backup.

    Who uses it

Teachers, tutors and lecturers marking essays and reports, and managers or coaches who write similar feedback for several people. To keep marks and averages, use the gradebook.

    Questions

    Are student names stored?

Your comments are kept in this browser. The name you type is only used to fill in the copied text.

Can I move my bank to another computer?

Yes. Use Save a copy, then Import on the other device.

Can I edit a comment later?

Yes. Open it, change the wording and save it again.

    Where to next

Carry on with what you just made, still on your device.
