How studying works
StudyLook at the front, try to recall the back, then show the answer and say how it went.
AgainBrings the card back in a minute.
Hard, Good, EasyPush the card further out each time you get it right.
QuizTests you on the whole deck with multiple choice or typed answers and gives you a score. It does not change when cards are due.
KeysSpace shows the answer, then 1 to 4 to rate it.

Decks are saved in this browser

When you study, each card comes back right before you'd forget it, so you spend time on what you don't know yet. Make decks, study them with spaced repetition and quiz yourself. It is free, private and needs no account.

How to study with flashcards

  1. Press New deck and give it a Deck name, or try the example deck.
  2. Add cards one at a time with Add one card, or paste many with Add cards in bulk and press Add these cards.
  3. Press Study. Read the front, then press Show answer.
  4. Rate how well you knew it: Again brings the card back in a minute. Hard, Good and Easy bring it back after longer gaps.
  5. Press Study ahead if you want to get ahead on future cards.
  6. Use Quiz to answer by picking the answer or typing it, then press Check and Next question.

Why spaced repetition works

Memories fade on a predictable curve, and each successful recall flattens it. Reviewing a card just as you're about to forget it is the most efficient moment to study. This tool tracks that moment for every card, so short daily sessions add up to long-term memory.

Importing a deck

To bring in cards from another flashcard app, export a set as text with a tab between the term and the definition, and copy it. Paste it into Add cards in bulk. Lists from spreadsheets or notes work the same way: one card per line, with a tab between the two sides.

Tips for better flashcards

  • Keep each card to one fact or question. Short cards are quick to review.
  • Write the question in your own words rather than copying a textbook sentence.
  • Be honest with your ratings. Marking a card Easy when you hesitated pushes it too far away.
  • Study a little every day, even for five minutes. Regular short sessions beat one long cram.
  • Use Quiz mode before a test to check you can answer without hints.
