Write multiple choice, true or false and short answer questions, or make them from flashcards. Shuffle them, then print the test and a matching answer key. It is free, and your questions stay in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How to make a quiz, step by step
- Give the quiz a Quiz title and some Instructions, or press Try the example.
- Add questions one at a time as Multiple choice, True or false or Short answer, or make them from cards.
- Open the Print preview and switch between Test and Answer key.
- Turn on Shuffle the questions, Shuffle the choices, a Name and date line or Show points as needed, and choose A4 or Letter paper.
- Save the Test PDF and the Answer key PDF, or the test as Word.
Making questions from flashcards or notes
Pick one of your flashcard decks or paste a list of cards, choose the question types and press Add questions from cards. Put one card per line, with the front and back separated by a tab, a dash, a colon or a comma. Multiple choice questions use the backs of other cards as the wrong answers, so a deck of at least four cards gives the best choices. True or false questions show a card with its own answer or with an answer from another card. You can edit every question afterwards. From Notes from text, Make a quiz sends your key terms here, and the flashcards tool can send a deck.
Shuffling and the answer key
With shuffling on, the order of the questions and of the choices is mixed once and kept, so the test and the answer key always match. Press Shuffle again for a different order, for example to print a second version for the next row of desks. Print the key for that version straight after the test.
Marking short answers
The answer key lists the expected answer for each short answer question. To accept more than one answer, separate them with a slash, such as colour / color. Points for each question can be changed, and the total is shown on the test and the key.
Saving and sharing a quiz
Save quiz file downloads the questions as a small file you can open again here on any device with Open quiz file, or give to a colleague. The test and key can also be saved as PDF, and the test as a Word document if you want to change its layout.
