From transcript to minutes and action items

Paste a meeting transcript or open a caption file. You get attendees, a summary, the decisions made and who is doing what, ready to edit and send.

Meeting details

Transcripts with names before each line, such as Priya: or [Tom], give the best results, because owners of action items come from who said them.

Have a recording? Turn it into text first with speech to text, which also runs on your device, then paste the transcript here.

Getting the best transcript

Transcripts with names before each line, such as Priya: or [Tom], give the best results, because owners of action items come from who said them. Have a recording? Turn it into text first with speech to text, which also runs on your device, then paste the transcript here. Caption files in SRT or VTT format, and Word documents with a transcript, can be opened directly.

How decisions and actions are found

Each sentence is checked for the way people usually say these things. Lines such as “we agreed”, “we decided” or “let’s go with” become decisions. Lines such as “I’ll send the draft”, “Sam will book the room” or “Tom, can you check the photos?” become action items, with the person who will do it as the owner and any deadline, such as by Friday, as the due date.

Check and edit before you send

Automatic minutes are a first draft. Every section can be edited in place, and the preview and downloads update as you type. Add missed action items, fix owners and remove anything that was only an idea. The summary is made of the most central sentences from the meeting itself, so nothing is invented.

Ways to use the results

  • Send the PDF or Word file to everyone who attended.
  • Download the Actions CSV and open it in a spreadsheet to track tasks and due dates.
  • Paste the Markdown into a wiki or project notes.
  • Keep a dated record for a club, committee, class group or client call.

Privacy

Everything is processed on your device. The transcript, the minutes and the files you download are not sent to a server, so confidential discussions stay in your hands.

Questions

Can it record a meeting?

No. Use the lecture recorder or any recorder you like, then transcribe the audio with speech to text.

Why are some action items missing?

Only clear phrases are picked up. Add anything missed with Add an action item.

Does it work without speaker names?

Yes, but owners will be blank for some actions, so fill them in by hand.

Can I use it for a class or a call?

Yes. Any conversation with a transcript works, such as a study group, a client call or a team stand-up.

Where to next

Carry on with what you just made, still on your device.
