How to use the editor
- Type or paste your text in the Markdown box. Use the H, B, I and S buttons for headings, bold, italic and strikethrough.
- Switch between Write and Preview on a small screen, or watch the Preview update as you type.
- Press Download .md to keep the file, or Copy HTML and .html to use the result on a web page.
Markdown in one minute
Start a line with # for a heading (## for a smaller one). Wrap words in **double asterisks** for bold and *single* for italic. Start lines with - or 1. for lists, and - [ ] for a checklist. Write a link as [text](https://example.com), and fence code between lines of three backticks.
Tables
Put a pipe between columns and a row of dashes under the header. Add colons to the dashes to align a column: :--- left, :---: centre and ---: right. The table button inserts a starter you can fill in.

Where your writing is kept
Your draft is saved in this browser's local storage after every change, so it is still here if you close the tab. It is not sent anywhere and does not sync to other devices; download the .md file to keep a copy. Clearing site data in your browser will remove the draft, so download anything important. Raw HTML in your Markdown is shown as text rather than run, and images from other websites are not loaded in the preview.
