How can I prove I wrote my essay myself?

Show how it was written. Drafts, version history and a record of your writing sessions are far stronger evidence than any detector score, especially if you can talk through your choices.

Before you hand it in

1. Write in one place and keep the versions. Each saved version shows the piece growing.
2. Keep your notes and sources, including the readings you quoted and the outline you started from.
3. Keep a writing record. Snowkit Write records when you worked, how long, how much you typed and pasted, and any AI help, privately on your device.
4. Add an AI-use statement if your course allows AI, saying what you used and how. If it does not, turn AI off for the document so the record shows it.

If someone questions your work

• Share your drafts and your writing record, and offer to explain how you built the argument.
• Ask what the concern is based on. Many universities do not accept a detector score on its own, because detectors are not reliable enough.
• Follow your institution’s academic integrity process and ask the student advocacy or ombuds office for help if you need it.

A writing record is evidence, not proof. Someone could retype text by hand, so it works best alongside a conversation about the work. A professor can check that a record was not edited after you exported it.
