Wide files turn sideways and scale to fit, so every column stays readable.
Choose the sheets you need, fit wide tables to the page, and keep the header row on every page, all without leaving this device. Turn an Excel, OpenDocument or CSV file into a neat PDF that looks the same everywhere. It is free and private.
How to convert a spreadsheet to PDF
- Press Choose a spreadsheet, or drop a file onto the page.
- Check the Preview and tick the Sheets to include.
- Choose the Page size: A4, Letter, Legal or A3, and the orientation: Automatic, Portrait or Landscape.
- Under Layout, choose Fit all columns on the page width, Show gridlines, Repeat the first row on every page and Add page numbers.
- Press Convert, then download the PDF. Clear removes the file.
What this tool does
This tool reads your spreadsheet and lays out each sheet as a clean table with real, selectable text. Long sheets flow across as many pages as they need, and the PDF looks the same on every phone, tablet and computer, which makes it the easy way to share a budget, timetable, price list or report.
Files it opens
Modern Excel workbooks (.xlsx and .xlsm), older Excel files (.xls from Excel 97 to 2003), OpenDocument spreadsheets (.ods) from LibreOffice and Google Sheets exports, and plain CSV files. Each cell is shown the way the spreadsheet shows it, so dates, currencies and percentages keep their format.
Fitting wide sheets
With Fit all columns on the page width turned on, wide tables are scaled down so every column sits side by side, and Automatic orientation turns the page sideways when that helps. Turn fitting off to keep the text full size: columns that do not fit carry on onto extra pages instead. Repeat the first row on every page keeps column headings in view on long tables.
What is kept
Cell values with their number formats, bold and italic text, text colours, solid cell fills, alignment and merged cells are carried over. Hidden rows, columns and sheets are left out, as they are when Excel prints. Charts, images, borders drawn in custom styles and conditional formatting are not drawn. Formulas show the result that was last saved in the file.
Tips for a good PDF
- Tidy the sheet first. Hide columns you do not need to share and delete stray cells at the edges.
- For tables with many columns, choose Landscape or a larger paper such as A3.
- Keep gridlines on for data tables and off for letters or forms.
- Look at the preview before converting to catch cut-off columns.
- Combine several PDFs afterwards if you need one report.
Common uses
Sending a budget or quote that the other person cannot edit by accident, handing in a timetable or price list, sharing a report with clients, and printing a spreadsheet without surprises. For your own budget, try the budget planner.
Privacy
Your files never leave this device. The spreadsheet is opened by your browser, the PDF is built in its memory, and the download comes straight from there. Nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Can it open password-protected workbooks?
No. Remove the password in Excel or LibreOffice first, then convert the file here.
Is there a size limit?
No set limit. Sheets with tens of thousands of rows convert on most computers, and very large ones simply take a little longer.
Why are my charts missing?
Charts and images are not drawn. Only the cell contents and their formatting are carried over.
