Turn HTML into a PDF with real text

Paste HTML or open an .html file, and see the pages as they will print.

HTML to PDF

Pages

Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, images, code and basic styles become a PDF whose text can be selected, searched and copied, not a flat screenshot. Turn an HTML file or pasted HTML into a clean PDF in your browser, free and private.

How to convert HTML to PDF

  1. Paste your code into HTML, or press Open .html and choose a file.
  2. Press Add images for any pictures the page refers to.
  3. Choose the Paper (A4, Letter, Legal or A5), the Margins (Narrow, Normal or Wide) and the Text size (Small, Medium or Large). Tick Page numbers if you want them.
  4. Check the Pages preview.
  5. Press Download PDF.

What carries over

Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, links, line breaks, numbered and bulleted lists, block quotes, preformatted code, tables with merged cells, horizontal rules and images. Colours, highlights, text alignment, font sizes and page breaks come across from inline styles and from simple style sheets in the page, such as rules for tags, classes and ids.

What does not

This is a document converter, not a full web browser. Scripts never run, and multi-column layouts, floats, positioned boxes and web fonts are left out, so the text flows in a single clean column with a built-in font. Pictures from the web are not downloaded; add them with Add images, or include them as data URLs.

Tips for good results

  • Keep your HTML simple. Plain headings, paragraphs, lists and tables convert best.
  • Use inline styles or a simple style sheet for colours and alignment.
  • Add images from your computer rather than linking to them.
  • Choose a larger margin for printing, and a smaller one if you want to fit more on a page.
  • Format messy code first with the code formatter.

Common uses

  • Turning an email template, invoice or report written in HTML into a shareable PDF.
  • Saving documentation or notes exported as HTML.
  • Making a printable version of a simple web page you wrote yourself.

For spreadsheets, there is Excel to PDF.

Privacy

Your HTML is read and turned into a PDF by your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing on the page is fetched, and no script in your HTML is ever run.

Questions

Can I convert a live web page?

Not by address. Paste the HTML or open a saved .html file. Pictures from the web are not downloaded.

Why does my layout look different?

Complex layouts such as columns and floats are not supported. The text flows in a single column.

Is the text selectable?

Yes. The PDF contains real text that can be searched and copied.
