    No fields yet.

    Saving

Click on a page to drop a field, or drag to draw it the size you want.

Open a PDF, place the fields and save. The new PDF works in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview on Mac, browsers and phone PDF apps. It is free, and your file stays on your device.

How to make a PDF fillable, step by step

    1. Open the PDF by dropping it on the page or pressing Choose a PDF.
    2. Pick a field type: Text, Paragraph, Checkbox, Dropdown or Signature.
    3. Click on a page to drop a field, or drag to draw it the size you want.
    4. Select a field to set its Name, its choices if it is a dropdown, and whether it is Required.
    5. Choose the text size in fields, then press Save fillable PDF.

    Fields you can add

    • Text for a single line such as a name, date or phone number.
    • Paragraph for longer answers that wrap onto several lines.
    • Checkbox for yes or no questions and lists of options.
    • Dropdown for picking one answer from a list you type in, one choice per line.
    • Signature for a signature box that PDF readers with signing support recognise.

    Tips for a tidy form

Draw each field over the blank line or box already printed on the page. Give fields clear names, because readers often show the name as a hint and it becomes the column name if answers are exported. Mark a field as required so readers warn the person filling it in when it is left empty.

Select a field and use the arrow keys to nudge it, or hold Shift to move it further. Duplicate saves time when a form has many similar boxes, such as a row of date fields. The text size can fit the box automatically or be fixed at 9, 10, 12 or 14 pt.

    Existing forms

If the PDF already has form fields, they are kept and your new fields are added alongside them. Each field needs its own name, so you are told when a name is already taken.

    Who uses it

Small businesses turn price lists, order sheets and intake forms into fillable versions. Teachers make worksheets and permission slips people can complete on a screen. Freelancers prepare client questionnaires, and office teams convert old printed forms so staff stop filling them in by hand. If you only need to sign a finished document, use sign PDF instead.

    Private by design

Your PDF is opened and changed by your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so contracts, applications and other forms stay on this device.

    Questions

Can people fill it in without special software?

Yes. The form is a standard PDF form, so most browsers, phone PDF apps and PDF readers can fill it in and save it.

Can I edit the fields later?

Open the saved PDF here again. Fields already in the file are kept, and you can add more.

Does it work on a scanned form?

Yes. The fields sit on top of the page, so a scan works as long as you can see where the boxes are.

    Is there a page limit?

There is no set limit. Very large PDFs depend on your device's memory.

    Where to next

Carry on with what you just made, still on your device.
