Photos can carry the exact place they were taken, the time, and your phone's model and serial number. This tool shows what is hidden in your photos and saves clean copies. The picture itself is left untouched. It is free, and your photos never leave this device.
How to remove photo metadata, step by step
- Add your photos by dropping them on the page or pressing Choose photos. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported.
- Look at the Photo details for each one to see what is hidden inside.
- Choose what to remove: GPS location, date and time taken, phone, camera and serial number, and names, apps and comments. You can keep rotation and the colour profile.
- Download each clean copy, or press Download all (.zip).
What is photo metadata?
Cameras and phones store extra details inside each photo, called EXIF. It often includes GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres, the date and time, the device make, model and serial number, the editing app, and sometimes your name. Anyone who gets the original file can read it.
No quality loss
Only the hidden details are removed. The picture data is copied exactly as it was, so there is no re-compression and no change in quality, size or colour.
Rotation and colour
Phones often store photos sideways with a note saying which way is up. Keeping rotation leaves just that one note, so photos do not appear on their side. The colour profile only describes colours and holds no personal details.
Do social networks remove it?
Most large networks strip location from photos they display, but email attachments, cloud links, chat apps sending files, marketplaces and forums often keep the original file. Cleaning photos yourself is the only way to be sure.
When to clean your photos
- Before selling something online, so buyers cannot see where you live.
- Before sending pictures of children, a home or a workplace.
- Before posting on forums, listings or a personal website.
- Before sharing files with a client or a landlord.
If a photo also shows faces or number plates, the blur faces tool can hide them as well. To shrink a photo for the web, use the website image optimizer.
Private by design
Your photos are read and cleaned by your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so you can check even sensitive pictures here.
Questions
Does it work on screenshots?

Can I remove only the location?
Yes. Choose just the GPS location and leave the other options off.
Will it change my original file?
