Capture your whole screen, one window or a browser tab, with sound and your microphone if you like. There is nothing to install, no watermark and no time limit, and the video is saved straight to your device. It is free, and your recording never leaves it.
How to record your screen, step by step
- Choose the Sound you want: sound from the screen or tab, and My microphone for a voice-over.
- Choose the Quality: Standard or High. Turn the 3 second countdown on if you want time to get ready.
- Press Start recording and choose what to share.
- Use Pause and resume as needed, then press Stop.
- Check the video and press Download video.
What you can record
When you press Start, your browser asks what to share: your entire screen, a single app window, or one browser tab. Tabs give the cleanest result for demos of websites, and include the tab's sound. The recording stops when you press Stop or end sharing from the browser's own bar. Tab sound works in Chrome and Edge. On Windows you can also share the whole screen's sound.
Sound and voice-over
Turn on My microphone to talk over the recording, for tutorials, bug reports and feedback videos. Screen sound and your voice are mixed into one track.
Tips for a clear recording
- Close notifications and private tabs before you start.
- Share a window or a tab instead of the full screen to keep things focused.
- Make the text on screen larger so it is readable in a small video.
- Do a short test recording to check your voice and the sound.
- Use Pause when you need to look something up.
Who uses it
Teachers recording a lesson, support teams showing a customer how to do something, developers sharing a bug, freelancers sending feedback to a client, and anyone making a how-to video. To trim the result, use the video editor.
The video file
Recordings are saved as WebM, which plays in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, VLC and most editors, and uploads to YouTube and Google Drive. Need an MP4? Open it in our WebM to MP4 converter.
Privacy
The video is recorded by your browser and kept in its memory until you download it. Nothing is uploaded, and this page has no way to send it anywhere.
Questions
Is there a time limit?
No. Long recordings use more memory, so for anything over an hour, record in parts on a computer with plenty of free memory.
Why can't I record on my phone?
Mobile browsers do not let websites capture the screen. Use your phone's built-in screen recorder instead.
Which browsers work?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Opera on a computer.
Is there a watermark?
No. The video contains only what you recorded.
