Turn a landscape clip into a vertical one, or a vertical one into a square or widescreen post. Keep the whole picture over a blurred copy of itself, add colour bars, or crop and drag to choose what stays in shot. It is free, and your video never leaves this device.

How to resize a video, step by step

  1. Drop your video on the page or press Choose a video. MP4, MOV and WebM files work.
  2. Choose the size under Made for: TikTok, Reels or Shorts at 9:16, Square 1:1, Portrait 4:5, or YouTube 16:9.
  3. Choose the Framing: Blurred fill, Bars or Crop to fill. Drag the picture to choose what stays in shot.
  4. Use Keep From and To to trim the video if it is longer than the app allows.
  5. Choose the Quality and Size (Full HD or 720p, faster), then press Make video and Download.

Three ways to reframe

Blurred fill keeps the whole picture and fills the empty space with a soft, enlarged copy of the same video, the look most creators use when posting landscape clips to vertical feeds. Colour bars do the same with a plain colour of your choice. Crop to fill uses the whole frame and cuts off the sides or the top and bottom; drag the preview to keep the part that matters, such as a face or a product, in shot.

Sizes and limits for each app

TikTok, Reels and Shorts all use 1080 × 1920 pixels in 9:16. Square posts are 1080 × 1080, portrait posts 1080 × 1350 in 4:5, and YouTube videos 1920 × 1080 in 16:9. The tool checks the length against each app's current limit, such as 3 minutes for Shorts and Reels, and warns you when the source is too small to look sharp. Limits change from time to time, so if an upload is refused, check the app's help pages.

Saved as a standard MP4

Current Chrome, Edge and Safari save an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, the format every social app accepts, using the browser's own video encoder. Browsers that can't make MP4 files save a WebM instead. Nothing is uploaded to do it, so drafts and unreleased clips stay private until you post them yourself.

Tips

  • Film wide when you can, because a wide clip can be cropped into a vertical one more easily than the other way round.
  • Keep faces and text near the centre so they are not cut off in a crop.
  • Use 720p for a quicker result when the clip is only for a draft.
  • Keep the tab open while it works, because the browser does the processing.

Who uses it

Creators and small businesses reposting a clip to several apps, teachers and clubs sharing event videos, and anyone with a phone video that needs a different shape. To make a picture or clip in every size at once, use the social export pack, and for more edits, the video editor.

Questions

Will it work on a long video?

Yes, but long clips take longer, and apps have their own length limits. Trim with From and To.

Can I stop it halfway?

Yes. Press Stop and start again with different settings.

Is the sound kept?

Yes, the sound goes into the new file with the picture.
