Open a PDF, choose a layout and download a new PDF that is ready to print. Print 2, 4, 6 or 9 pages on each sheet to save paper, or reorder a PDF so it folds into a booklet you can staple. The original file is not changed. It is free, and your file stays on your device.

How to make a booklet or multi-page sheet

  1. Open the PDF by dropping it on the page or pressing Choose a PDF.
  2. Choose Pages per sheet or Booklet under Print layout.
  3. For pages per sheet, pick 2, 4, 6 or 9 and the order. For a booklet, pick the Binding edge.
  4. Choose the Paper (A4, US Letter or A3), the margin and spacing, and whether to draw a line around each page.
  5. Press Make PDF, then Download PDF.

Pages per sheet

Two pages per sheet turns the paper sideways and places the pages next to each other, which is easy to read and halves the paper you use. Four and nine pages per sheet keep the paper upright in a grid, and six pages per sheet uses three columns on a sideways sheet. Each page is scaled to fit its space and centred, and text stays sharp because nothing is turned into a picture. The order can run across then down, down then across, or right to left.

How the booklet order works

A booklet puts four pages on every sheet of paper, two on each side. To make them come out in order after folding, the first and last pages share the outside of the first sheet, the second and second-to-last share the back, and so on towards the middle. If the page count is not a multiple of four, blank pages are added at the end so the fold still works. Right edge binding is for languages read from right to left, such as Arabic and Hebrew.

Printing tips

  • Choose double-sided printing and flip on the short edge. If the back sides come out upside down, switch to the long edge.
  • Print at actual size or 100% so the margins stay even.
  • Booklets of more than about 40 pages are easier to fold if you print them in several parts.
  • After printing, keep the sheets in order, fold the stack in half and staple along the fold.

Who uses it

Teachers print handouts and class readers. Event organisers make programmes and order of service booklets. Small businesses print manuals and menus. Students save paper on lecture slides and long readings. To add page numbers first, use page numbers and watermarks.

Private by design

Your PDF is read and rearranged by your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the file is gone when you close the page.

Questions

Why are my back pages upside down?

Your printer is flipping on the wrong edge. Switch between short edge and long edge in the print settings.

Can I print slides six to a page?

Yes. Choose 6 pages on each sheet.

Do I need to print on both sides?

For a booklet, yes. For pages per sheet, it is your choice.
