Each slide holds

Looks exactly like the page. Clear text boxes sit over each line, ready to select, copy or edit.

A single picture per slide, the simplest to present.

Just the words as text boxes in their places, without the page picture.

Picture quality

Turn every page of a PDF into a slide, so you can present it, add notes or build on it in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides. Each page keeps its exact look, and the words can come along as text you can select and edit. It is free, and your files never leave this device.

How to convert a PDF to PowerPoint, step by step

  1. Drop your PDF on the page or press Choose PDF files. You can add more than one.
  2. Under Each slide holds, choose Picture and text, Picture only or Text only.
  3. Set the Picture quality: Standard or Sharp.
  4. Press the convert button and download your PPTX file.

What this tool does

This tool makes a PowerPoint file with one slide for every page of your PDF. Each slide is sized to match its page, so a portrait report gives tall slides and a landscape handout gives wide ones. The file opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice Impress.

The text layer

With Picture and text, every slide shows a crisp picture of the page, and each line of text is also placed on top of it as an editable text box. The boxes are see-through, so the slide looks exactly like the original. Click a line to select, copy or search its words, or give the text a colour and edit it to change what the slide says.

Choose Text only when you want to rebuild a page in your own style: you get the words in their places as ordinary black text, without the picture behind them. Picture only is the simplest to present.

What to expect

Pictures, charts, colours and layout come through exactly, because they are part of the page picture. They are not separate objects you can move one by one, since a PDF does not keep that structure. Scanned PDFs work as pictures, but they have no text layer, because a scan contains no real text.

Tips

  • Use Sharp for pages with small print or fine charts, and Standard for a smaller file.
  • Use Picture only for a quick presentation of a report or a handout.
  • Use Text only when you want to restyle the slides with your own theme.
  • If the PDF began as a PowerPoint file, the original is usually easier to edit than a converted copy.

Who uses it

Students presenting a paper or a poster, teachers reusing a handout, and office teams presenting a report as slides. To go the other way, use PowerPoint to PDF, and for a Word document use PDF to Word.

Privacy

Your files never leave this device. The PDF is opened by your browser, the slides are built in its memory, and the download comes straight from there. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions

How large will the file be?

Standard quality is about the size of the pictures you would get from printing to a screen, usually a few hundred kilobytes per slide. Sharp quality uses lossless pictures for the cleanest small text, and makes larger files.

Can it open password-protected PDFs?

Not PDFs that need a password to open. PDFs that open freely but restrict editing usually convert fine.

Can I move the items on a slide?

The page is a picture, so items in it do not move separately. The text boxes can be moved and edited.

Where to next

Carry on with what you just made, still on your device.
