Paste an email, a chat log, a spreadsheet or a support ticket, and get it back with names, email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers and API keys replaced. Clean text is safe to paste into an AI assistant, share with a colleague or post online. The text never leaves this device. It is free.
How to remove personal information, step by step
- Paste your text into the Your text box, or press Try an example.
- Under Find and remove, list any names, company names or project names to remove, separated by commas.
- Choose Replace with: Labels such as [EMAIL_1], or Black bars.
- Check the Cleaned text, then press Copy cleaned text.
Why clean text before using AI
Anything you paste into an AI chat can be stored, reviewed or used to improve the service, depending on its settings. Customer emails, contracts, logs and code often contain details that belong to other people or to your company. Replacing them first keeps the useful part of the text and leaves the private part out.
What it finds
Email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers (checked with the same test banks use), IBAN bank account numbers, US Social Security numbers, Canadian SINs, IP addresses, UK and Canadian postcodes, and common API keys and access tokens. Web links and dates can be switched on too. Add any names, company names or project names you want removed, because names cannot be spotted reliably by rules.
Labels that keep meaning
With labels, the same value always gets the same label, so "[EMAIL_1] wrote to [EMAIL_2], then [EMAIL_1] replied" still reads clearly. An AI can summarise or answer questions about the text without ever seeing the real details. Black bars look like a redacted document and suit text you plan to print or post.
Who uses it
- Support teams sharing a ticket without customer details.
- Developers pasting logs or code without keys and addresses.
- Managers and HR sharing an email thread for advice.
- Anyone posting a screenshot of text or a question online.
To clean a PDF, use redact PDF. If you need to put the real details back after processing, see reversible redaction.
Privacy
The cleaning happens as you type, inside your browser. The text is never uploaded, and this page has no way to send it anywhere.
Questions
Will it catch everything?
It catches the common formats reliably, but no automatic tool is perfect, especially with names and unusual formats. Read the highlighted result before sharing anything sensitive.
Can I put the details back later?
Not with this tool. Keep your original text if you need it, and use the labels to match the answer back to the real names yourself. The reversible redaction tool keeps a key for putting them back.
Is my text stored?
No. It stays in your browser while you work.
