Your PDF is edited on this device and never uploaded.
Fix a typo, change a date, add a note or place a logo or signature, directly in your PDF. Everything happens in your browser, and the file you open is never changed. It is free and private.
How to edit a PDF
- Press Choose a PDF. If it is locked, use Unlock it first.
- Pick a tool: Edit text, Add text, Whiteout or Image.
- Click the page where you want to work.
- Change the look with Font, Size, Style (Bold or Italic) and Colour.
- Use Restore original or Delete if you change your mind about a change.
- Press Download edited PDF.
How editing works
Choose Edit text and click any line. Type your change, then click outside the line or press Enter. The original words are taken out of the page and your words are written in the same place, size and colour. Everything else on the page, such as pictures, tables and other text, is left exactly as it was.
Add text puts a new text box wherever you click. Drag any box to move it, and use the panel to change its font, size, colour, bold or italic. Undo and redo cover every change, and you can zoom in for small print.
About fonts
Fonts are matched, not copied. Most PDFs only carry the letters they already use, so new words are written with the nearest standard font: Helvetica, Times or Courier, chosen by the original font's name and weight. An edited line can look slightly different from the text around it, so check the result before you send it. Letters outside the standard set, such as Greek or Cyrillic, are written with Open Sans. Scripts such as Devanagari, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese are not supported.
Whiteout and images
Whiteout draws a box over part of the page, in white or any colour. It only covers what is underneath: the hidden text is still inside the file and can be copied out. To remove private details for good, use Redact PDF. Images can be a logo, a stamp or a signature, and if you keep a logo or signature in Your kit, it is one click away.
Scanned and locked PDFs
A scanned page is a picture, so it has no lines to click. You can still add text, images and whiteout, or run it through Make PDF searchable first. A PDF with a password or edit limits needs to be unlocked with its password before it can be changed.
Tips for good results
- Zoom in before editing small print so you click the right line.
- Keep your change about the same length as the original, so the layout does not shift.
- Check the finished page next to the original, especially fonts, numbers and dates.
- Use the Image tool for a signature, but make sure you have the right to use it.
- Edit a copy of important documents and keep the original safe.
Common uses
- Correcting a typo or date in a CV, invoice or form.

Privacy
Your PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the file you opened is never changed: every download is a new copy.
Questions
Can I change text in a scanned PDF?
Not directly, because a scan is a picture. Add new text over it with Add text, or make the PDF searchable first.
Why does my edited text look different?
New words use the nearest standard font. Check the result before you send it.
Does whiteout remove the text underneath?
No. It only covers it. Use Redact PDF to remove private information for good.
