Convert SVG to JPG, at any size

Open an SVG and save it as a JPG for sites and apps that do not accept SVG files.

Colours

Logos and icons look best with few colours. Use 16 or 32 for illustrations.

Add a picture to get an SVG, or switch to SVG to picture to turn an SVG into a PNG or JPG. Nothing is uploaded. Trace logos and drawings into sharp vector shapes, free and private in your browser.

How to turn a picture into an SVG

  1. On the Picture to SVG tab, press Choose a picture. Use Zoom to inspect it, or Replace to swap it.
  2. Choose how many Colours to use: Black and white, or a number such as 16 or 32. For black and white, adjust the Darkness cut-off.
  3. Set the Shapes options: Smoothing (Pixel sharp, Low, Medium or High) and Ignore specks smaller than.
  4. Choose a Transparent background if you want one.
  5. Press Make SVG, then Download SVG or Copy SVG code.

What vectorizing does

A PNG or JPG is a grid of pixels, so it turns blurry when you make it bigger. An SVG describes the same picture as shapes and curves, so it stays sharp at any size, from a favicon to a billboard. This tool groups the picture into the number of colours you choose, traces the outline of every area and smooths the edges into curves.

Getting a clean result

  • Logos, icons, signatures, stamps and line drawings trace best. Photos turn into a poster-like picture with flat areas of colour.
  • Choose as few colours as the picture really has. Black and white is ideal for signatures and scanned ink drawings.
  • Raise the speck size if the result shows little dots from noise or JPG artefacts.
  • Pixel sharp keeps square corners, which suits pixel art. Medium and High round off the steps along curved edges.

SVG to PNG or JPG

Some sites and apps only accept PNG or JPG. Switch to SVG to picture, open an SVG and choose a size in pixels (1×, 2×, 4× or Other). Choose the Format: PNG, JPG or WebP. Because the SVG is drawn fresh at that size, the picture is sharp even at four times its normal size. PNG keeps a transparent background, while JPG is filled with white or a colour you choose with Fill the background.

Supported files

You can open PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, GIF and SVG files.

Common uses

  • Turning a low-resolution logo into something that prints sharply on signs and shirts.
  • Making a signature or stamp scalable for documents.
  • Preparing artwork for cutting machines and embroidery software.
  • Exporting a vector graphic as a PNG for a site that only accepts raster images.

To make a set of website icons, see the favicon generator.

Private by design

Your picture is read and traced by your browser, and the SVG is made on this device. Nothing is sent to a server, so unreleased logos and signatures stay with you.

Questions

Why does my photo look like a poster?

Tracing turns areas of similar colour into flat shapes. Photos have too many subtle shades to trace perfectly. Try more colours for a closer look.

Why is the SVG file large?

Many colours and fine detail produce many shapes. Use fewer colours, more smoothing, or a higher speck size.

Can I edit the SVG afterwards?

Yes. SVG files open in vector design programs and can be changed shape by shape.

Where to next

Carry on with what you just made, still on your device.
