What it does
Copy the text out of photos, screenshots and scanned PDFs. Free OCR in English, Spanish, French, German and more, running in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
This tool reads the text in pictures and scanned documents and gives it back to you as text you can copy, edit and search. It works with photos of letters and signs, screenshots, receipts, scanned pages and PDFs that are really just images. Add your files, pick the language, and press Read text.
Steps
- Press Choose images or PDFs, or drop files onto the page. You can also paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.
- Pick the language: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch or Indonesian.
- Choose how line breaks are kept: Paragraphs or Every line.
- Press Read text.
- Check the Text found in your files, fix anything, then press Copy text or Download .txt. Clear all removes the files.
